Competition

Nine competition categories

Films compete in three types, each in three age groups – nine categories in total.

Fiction film

fiction, short live-action film

under 15under 20under 30

Animated film

drawn, puppet, computer or any other animation

under 15under 20under 30

Documentary / experimental

documentary, experimental, video art and everything else

under 15under 20under 30

Conditions

The filmmaker was not yet 31 on the day of the film's premiere – “30 and something” is fine.
The film is no longer than 30 minutes.
The film was completed no more than 3 years before the festival.
One director can submit up to 3 films – under a single fee.
The submission fee is 300 CZK / €12, paid by QR code or bank transfer – payment details are shown during submission.
Films not in Czech need at least English subtitles – ideally we'll use them to translate Czech ones.
A submission becomes valid once we receive the film and confirm the payment. Without the fee the film does not enter the pre-selection round.
After the deadline a film can no longer be withdrawn. The festival reserves the right not to include a film in the competition.

Deadline: 31 January 2027(we may extend the deadline)
Selection results: by 20 February 2027

a short bio and a photo of the filmmaker

Preliminary technical requirements

They apply to all categories.

frame rate 24 or 25 fps
video resolution up to 1920×1080
film length up to 30 minutes
black at the beginning and end of the film up to 5 seconds
file size up to 15 GB (the final file for big-screen projection)

By submitting you agree

to the film being screened at the festival
to screenings at Mladá kamera Echoes – we curate the Echoes selection and will let you know before your film is screened
for films not selected for the competition, to a possible screening in the festival's accompanying programme
to the use of footage and the trailer to promote the festival – on social media and in the festival's Střípky interviews (archived on YouTube and the web)
